About KUST

Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), founded in 1954 and located in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, is a top-ranked university in China with a strong emphasis on Clinical Medicine. It was formed by merging Kunming University of Science and Technology with the former Yunnan University of Technology in 1999.

KUST has 26 colleges, 7 research institutes, and over 3,800 faculty members, including 1,360 professors and associate professors. The university currently enrolls over 53,000 students, including 585+ international students from countries such as Nigeria, Tanzania, Lesotho, Liberia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Sudan.

KUST has 13 clinical teaching bases including 9 affiliated hospitals, 3 teaching hospitals, and 1 internship hospital. Its flagship Affiliated Hospital, Yunnan First People's Hospital, is a large tertiary A-class hospital with 2,800 beds and 64 clinical departments, providing extensive medical, teaching, and research facilities.

International Accreditation

The MBBS program at KUST is recognized by WHO, WDOMS, WCAME, WFME, and ECFMG. Graduates are eligible to take medical licensing exams including USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), UKMLA (UK), AMC (Australia), SMLE (Saudi Arabia), DHA (Dubai), and PMDC (Pakistan).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport
  • Minimum 60% marks in Senior High School/FSC (Pre-Medical)/WAEC or A-Levels
  • Age between 17–25 years
  • Physically and mentally healthy
  • Fluent in English (no IELTS/TOEFL required)

Affordable Fees & Living Expenses

The following is a detailed list of the documents required for the bachelor's degree in medicine (MBBS) at any medical school in China.

  • Senior High School/WAEC Transcript with the official stamp.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Passport within the validity period.
  • Digital Photo in a white background (Format: JPG, 100-500KB).
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Applicants whose native language is not English should provide IELTS (not less than 6.0 and each band no less than 5.0).
  • Police Character Certificate (non-Criminal record).
  • A self-introduction video (3-5 minutes, no more than 50 MB) must be in English.
  • Financial guarantee certificate (parents' income certificate or bank Statement).
  • Proof of a medium-of-instruction certificate in English during high school.
  • Facilities

    KUST offers on-campus accommodation exclusively for international students, equipped with secure and furnished rooms. The campus also includes a public kitchen, laundry facilities, a Muslim cafeteria, playgrounds, gyms, a library, ATM machines, and a supermarket.
